from anywhere in the world if you have to reach ooty by train you have to reach coimbatore.from there go to mettupalayam and catch the hill train.Lovely ride but very crowded and on winter nasty smell also come from fellow passengers since all of them are in woolen attires.

Ooty is connected to Chennai (formally Madras) by a nightly train. The Nilgiri Express leaves from Chennai at night, and reaches Mettupalayam, a small town at the foothills of the Blue Mountains early the next morning. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an experience that is more than just a mode of transport as the journey through the scenic valley and hills make it breathtaking. A through ticket from Madras to Ooty will ensure a place on the smaller train, although many prefer the faster route of taking a cab or a bus from Mettupalayam. There are other trains from Chennai to Coimbatore.

Mettupalayam can prove to be a bottleneck during the peak season of April-June

From chennai go by "nilgiri express" or "blue mountain express".
or go to Coimbatore from any where and go to Mettupalayam where Ooty trains available.

Sit in the train. It will take you to Ooty. You can also sleep.

When u ask a question put it in a proper way. Write from where you to want to board the train etc. Do not ask foolish questions.

If you want to reach Ooty by train you first go to Coimbatore and from there take a train to Mettupalayam (a small town situated in the foothills of Nilgiri hills) From Mettupalaym take a toy train to Ooty. The journey from Mettupalayam to Ooty is very fascinating and beautiful.
Have a nice trip!

Ooty is a great place to live in. i was liviing in coimbatore for 7 years and during this period I visited ooty about 20-25 times. If you are in chennai take the Blue Mountain Express and alight at Metupalayam. From there trains are available.
