I'd like to go to India this August, but I'm not sure it is the best time? Any suggestions,anything similar?

August is generally slight rain everywhere in India.....
If u ask me...its not the BEST but a good time. You can see how the whole landscape turns so Green and alive after the rains...
it is something a traveller from the west (US,UK,Europe......temperate climate zones) has never seen in his country,
Kerela is a great place to go around August. The world famous backwaters of Kerela are nice and flowing and it is green everywhere.....besides its nice to have massages and Auyurveda treatments.
August is the season in which the Sun and Rain play hide and seek ....its nice atmosphere and in 15 min its raining and it stops and becomes sunny and cool in the next 1/2 hour.

You can expect good climate pretty much along the complete west coast of India as the monsoon has receeded.

If u come before 15th August...you must see the Independence day celebration on 15th August...in New Delhi.....

About PUNE GANESH FESTIVAL( 11 days in 2nd half of august)....As one of the other answerers said....its somethin you should not miss...i was born and live in Pune since 20 years and this festivel excites me every year...so if u have a chance ...dont miss it....

hai - it depends where you wanna go.
Coastal areas are having heavy rains. New Delhi too had rains.
By and large July had a better climate than summers which just got over.
If you love the rains - just come over now

August is the starting month of tourist season and if you select to visit during this season , I am sure that you have taken a good decision to visit. . But don't extend your trip to november to march as it is the peak season and almost all the tour operators will charge you more.
You must visit Kerala as itsthe most important destination for tourists. During this month , there are a lot of Boat races conducted . It will be very much interesting to you. World
famous Nehru Trophy Boat race is conducted on 12th august 2006.

August will be the better time to visit india..Here the summer season is March to May and not in August...Its rainy season now...Especially in Kerala..And it is the best time to visit Kerala..

The best season to travel to India is between the month of October to March when it is pleasant here. The month of August is very hot here. Come to Uttaranchal in October then u can travel to south in the month of November and then proceed to Goa and Kerela in the month of Dec to Jan. U R most Welcomed to INDIA.

actually, july-august is a rainy time in most regions of India. But October-November is the best time to visit india... and then February- till mid of March.

If you are visiting India in August i would suggest you to visit Pune to see Ganesh Festival which will start from 27th August will last long for 10 days. Something one should not miss.

You may go to GOA. It is the best in rains. I dont know whether you are a male or female. If you are a female, GOA is doubly good fun. Lot of young boys can give you a free fun ride on their mobikes along the coast line.

If your going to go in the summer is gonna be REALLY HOT there... more than normal...l i suggest going in the winter like December its a lot cooler and you will enjoy your trip better instead of thinking about the hot weather all day

you should travel to india only in the winter. The other months are way to hot but if you are a fan of rain then I would suggest any time between june to august. my personal favorite would be the months of december and january.
