No. I am not Indian and I have liked B'wood since I was in Jr. High. I am now in my late 20's. My kids enjoy it too. I have come across many people (even friends) who think it is out of the ordinary and down right strange. But I like it for me not them. If you enjoy it then that is your provocative.

NO, that is NOT wierd. Bollywood movies appeal to whites and non-Indians because they showcase family values, respect for family and elders, lovely Indian clothes, and beautiful foreign language to listen to, music videos within the movies, cute actors/actresses.

Why would it be weird? I love traditional Japanese culture - I'm not Japanese. You don't have to be Indian to love Bollywood!!

I'm Indian and I dislike most of Bollywood for their showiness and pomposity - especially that it is full of actresses like Shilpa Shetty (yuck). Last Bollywood movie I saw was in Feb, 2006 - not lying.

But I agree Bollywood showcases Indian culture and family values worldwide -people do know Indians better through this medium and some foreigners are attracted to the colors and visual medium.

A few movies are worthwhile though e.g. my recommendations would be Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and RHTDM (2001) - I saw them during college and was like, why can't ALL Bollywood movies be like that. If you enjoy this fare, don't miss out these two movies - they star Saif Ali and Aamir Khan and Maddy - too sweet and cool
