Places like Ooty, Kodaikanal etc are very far away from Chennai. The nearest hill station is Yercaud, in Salem district. You have lots of trains and buses from Chennai to Salem. It takes 5-6 hours by train and 7-8 hours by bus to Salem. From Salem, it's a local bus up to Yercaud. You can leave on day 1 night, spend the day in Yercaud, and return by day 2 night train itself. |
