Plan your trip carefully to enjoy the most. A little homework will work wonder for your trip. Two weeks is a very short time to see country like India.

It appears to be your first trip to India. In such case, you should concentrate on what interests you most. You can choose among ancient India, modern India, urban India, rural India, historical places, monuments, structural beauties, festivities, cultural aroma, nature -mountains, rivers, plains, deserts, beaches, islands; regions - its people, their traditions, dresses, variety of food, weather conditions - mild, moderate or severe;.......

India is diverse country with no match. There is so much to see and experience with just two weeks for you!? So plan carefully, with time and budget in mind, to explore maximum and enjoy the most. The selection of places to visit as per your liking and tase will multiply your enjoyment.

hans
india is the county which u can not visite in 2 weeks. in 2 weeks u can seen only some part of it.
or if u visit simply like a tourist so select only big places of india your 2 weeks wil over.
start your visit from
KASHMIR- IT IS REALLY TILL NOW HEVAN, not only of india BUT HEVAN OF WORLD.
REALLY DONT MISS IT. & now this is actual seson of it.
dont afride from any thing b'cos all thigs are lye (e.g. -terrerisom or kishmir is over, etc.)
then go delhi, TAJ MAHAL, etc all big big places.

INDIA is a huge country- first of all check which month you are coming here. In summers plains of NORTH INDIA boils at 48 degree celcius.

In winters we have 0-1 degree temp. at DELHI.

Make a good plan and do not try to see maxmum. You will end up in traveing only.

Buses and trains are not as fast and punctual as in your country and niether it is easy to get confirmed seats in trains and planes just in time.

So better plan well and do not just focus on LONELY PLANET guide.

Two weeks is too short a period if you wanna visit the whole of India. Theer are innumerable places of interest in the country, Be it the beaches and templeas in South-India, Monuments in eastern India, Hill stations, beaches and metropolitians of west India, or hill station of the North, It will take you atleast a couple of months to see the whole country.
I would reccomend you visit the north Indian places like Amritsar, Delhi, Kulu-Manali, Jammu & Kashmir.

3. Water sports
4. Jungle safari
5. Bird Sanctuaries
6. Beaches
7. Island Resorts
8. Desert Safary
9. Back waters
10. Historical Places (Indus Valley, Sun Temple, Taj Mahal, etc)

Well, u haven't specify where r u landing in India, whre r u coming frm and what r ur specific plans but still I recommend u to plan ur trip to India in winters b'coz only in winters u can enjoy the 2 heavens of India to the fullest. One is Kashmir (well, if u r not amazed with snow then Kashmir is Heaven In Summers) and second is Rajasthan. If u r religious kind of thn Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Rishikesh, Haridwar and so many more places to go. But in short span of 2 weeks u can only cover one or two stated of India.

So, in winters plan for Rajasthan (cultural and handicraft state of India which includes Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, etc), Gujarat and south indian states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, etc.

In summers Kashmir, Uttaranchal, Laddakh, Uttar Pradesh and many more.

And most importantly DELHI the capital of India, either u land in Mumbai or Delhi, so whn u r in Delhi, u can see India Gate, Red Fort, Old Fort, Qutab Minar, Humanyu's Tomb, Tajmahal, Jantar Mantar, Presidents House, Parliament House, etc.
