Ooty is better when compared to Coorg. The routs are:
1. Bangalore - Mysore - Ooty (shotest one but less traffic. Driving during night to be avoided because of wild animals wandering)
2. Bangalore - Comibatore - Ooty (Very very long rout but safe rout).

Both are having scenic beauties. But, this time i think u can try for ooty.* (and even during independence day u can have flower shows there)
You can follow the route by previous answerer. You can go thru mysore itself.

ooty is better than coorg. coorg is not very cool when compared to ooty.

I feel Ooty is better than Coorg during Monsoons. The road from Mysore to Coorg is not good. However, the Road from Bangalore to Ooty is better.

there are nothing much to do in coorg, also it is not as cool as ooty. ooty has many spots to offer. ooty is the best option. you can go via mysore, it is a good route to reach from bangalore. its better to travel during day
