If you are staying in Hyderabad for more than 6 months then you can apply from Hyderabad. But, you would need to submit proof of residence, like your leave and license aggreement, bank statement (operative), etc. You can get better details from official website http://passport.gov.in/cpv/faq.htm.

can apply for passport from hyd but for that u need to hav a bank account from last six months or any residence proof, or any photo identity given from gov...then u can easily go ahead....

You have to apply in the present place where u live now. But they ask the references and addresses of your place where had you been in the past ONE year. The police verification to be done for the past one year places. They ask the address proof and references. You can get the application in the post office. Now a days they had minimised the process and it will be very quick. Good luck.

If u r a resident of Chennai, then u have to apply it from the nearest residing place(residential address).........
In your case u have to apply from chennai itself..........cause the checking authorities will have to check u'r residential and criminal proof's before awarding u a passport...........

mention your chennai's address as permanent address..
have a proof of your current address... like voter id,
driving license etc.. which is permanent..
and if you dont have make an affidavit of your current address as proof and get it signed and verified by ur local Police station..

If your PRESENT address is Hyderabad, you will have to submit application in Hyd. You can mention Chennai as permanent / previous address.
