This is a very personal matter, and I think he should discuss this with his parents and family to understand their take on the matter.
It is good that he cares for his parents feelings, and maybe they will find a really fine girl for him, maybe from India from his own community and from a similar social standing.

What would be more important is how two people spend their life together, how well they compliment and fit with each other. I have seen love marriages fail and arranged marriages blossom into love, and the other way round too.

I think your cousin wants to stay in a joint family so this is this is a call that the family should take together.

If your cousin doesn't mind, let him at least meet the girl who his parents like. And let them both at least get to know each other for sometime like for a few days by going out together and talking, or something like that . After this being done, if they both find each other acceptable enough for a strong committment, they can themselves decide on the possiblity of a marriaige. And if they don't, then they can break off at any point of time and go their separate ways just like in a normal relationship.
In this way, even their parents will be happy no matter what the outcome, because they will realize that their children have at least tried their best to fulfull the wish about their parents selection of an eligible marraige partner.
But please tell you cousin, not to reject his parents proposal outrightly without even meeting the girl because they will feel very sad and betrayed and may even get the feeling that maybe their son no longer has any regard for his parents and their feelings
