I've already tried reserving tickets but its already filled up ... i don want to go via chennai either ... want to start from Bangalore at night & reach there in the morning ... anyone knows the route from hosur ? Is there a direct bus from hosur ? If not tell me the shortest route from hosur to chidambaram .. (plz dont suggest going to chennai)

The shortest route is via Salem.
From Salem to Chidambaram there is a bus every one hour via Attur,Virudachalam,Neyveli.
Journey time about 9 Hours.

There are direct bus from Bangalore to Chidambaram by KPN Travels. You may purchase the tickets by visiting their office in Koramangala or City Market Office. Kindly avoid Middle men.

There are plenty of Government Buses that run between Chennai (CMBT) Bus Terminus located at Koyambedu. Similarly there are plenty of buses operated between bangalore and chennai.
Bangalore to chennai --- 10 hrs (Max)
Chennai to Chidambaram --- 5-7 hrs (Max)
Alternatively you can take a train to chennai and from chennai you can take a bus.
If you are planning to drive by your own vehicle then the time gets reduced drastically. You can reach chennai in 6 hours and chidambaram should not take a maxium of 5 hours by personal vehicle. From chennai you can drive via even ECR and reach Pondicherry, which is very close to Chidambaram.

From Bangalore to Chennai you can go by bus or train. From Chennai to Chidambaram you can go bus or train. There is a possibility buses may be available from Bangalore to Chidambaram directly.

Bangalore to Chidambaram is about 350 Km in road distance. You have to travel to Pondicherry from Bangalore by Bus. Either private buses like Sharma, KPN or govt busses like TN State exp corporation or Pondicherry Tourism buses available. WHich takes 7 to 8 hrs to reach Pondi from there Chidambaram is about 3 hrs jouney.

Other option travel to Salem from Blore by local bus which take about 6 hrs from Salem you will get connectinb bus service to Chidambaram

Take the Night Buss to Ponicherry, then change over to Chdambaram Buss (64Kms)

From Bangalore take a train to Salem and from there to Vriddachalam. From there Chidambaram is a short bus ride away.
