well check out the part of india that you're going to, because depending on that, it could be insanely hot or insanely cold
i would make sure to bring lots of things that you can layer if you need to, or wear as single pieces if it gets hot
and of course you can always buy clothes there if you need to |

If you are going to Southern Part, then itz the rainy season there. So take clothes accordingly. |

I've been to India a ton of times. Bring a lot of light cottony clothing. It's really hot out there. You can buy chudidhars there. They are like a long shirt and pants. They're really comfortable and they keep you cool.
I wouldn't wear shorts. Indians look at shorts as being disgraceful. Wear clothing below the knee. |

Yes you can buy there. Take summer clothes, it is very hot in India. |

I went there with my sister and one day she wore shorts. not a good idea. Females should have skirts or at least longer pants. No white as India can be quite dirty. Be sure to be able to layer and bring something for rain depending on where you're going, like a poncho. India is awesome - both the best place I've ever been and the worst, but definitely the most educational. Good luck! |

A light jacket or sweater might be useful if the temperatures dip.
In general wear light cotton clothing. Long pants for men, although I just visited in August and wore knee-length shorts everywhere because I couldn't stand the heat. No one seemed to care. Little girls can wear shorts and mini-skirts. Teenage girls and women should wear long pants or skirts. |

See depends where you are going to visit, you can get better advices if you can share where you will be visiting in India.
It will be hot in most of the parts not too hot because this is the time when weather changes so my advice will be bring clothes for summers and few warm clothes like jacket or warm tshirt.
Later you can shop here also according to the weather and it will be nice if you avoid short clothes. |

Actually it depends upon which place of India you wanna to visit. The temperature of India in September is normal so no need to bring winter clothes just bring normal summer clothes.
