Anything can happen anywhere the world, it is a nasty place, but keeping your wits about you, being mature and sensible and you can be safe anywhere. Otherwise you will end up cooped up for the rest of your life in england if you kept that opinion, i mean where do you stop worrying just because you hear a news story?
I went to south Africa on my own for the first time 2 yrs ago as a single white traveller, it was the best experience as i didn't get drunk, i was cautious and just stayed out of renowned rough areas |

I had a wonderful holiday there over Christmas, went to midnight markets ect. if you tempt fate expect the consequences, just be sensible, the taxi drivers will be very useful to you, and when thety take you somewhere they will wait for you all day if necessary and they charge a piitance for their waiting time, try to use the same one |

It was nice in the 70's but now it is just a 3rd world Benidorm. Avoid it like the plague. Just down the coast is Kerala, a much nicer and far less touristy place, It has awesome veggie food, is safer and have even better beaches.
All Goa is is a place for dim Stella drinkers of both sexes to get off their faces. Why they have to go to Goa to do that I do not know, everywhere is the same when you see it through the bottom of a glass. |

Things like this happen everywhere but if you go too young(don't mean to sound patronizing) but you're not so clued up to other people's intentions and situations you're putting yourself into. |

As a Mother, don't go.
My best friend's neighbour had a daughter who was about 20.
She went to India, contracted a terrible virus and died there.
I don't know too much about the news in Goa but I do know it is not one of the most hygienic places to travel.
If you do go, make sure you have all your shots and are in the very best of health before you go there.
Take Care
Think Carefully

I think it depends where you go. My grandma and grandad go to Goa every year for about 3 weeks, and have actually just come back from this year's holiday and had a great time! They've never experienced any huge problems at all/ |

India is a nice place, just because an untoward things happened to one person does it mean that all will meet with such things no, enquire at the staying place , lodgeings or any hotel that there is absolute safety. I have found many foreigners were travelling in buses and trains in absolutely in safe conditions while comparing with the total number of tourists visiting GOA or any other PART OF INDIA the percentage of such accidents of criminals attack very minimal in comparison to the so called well developed countries. Apart from that when you feel insecure you can very well call the I NDIAN POLICE FOR HELP THEY WILL COME IMMEDIATELY THE EMERGENCY CALL NUMBERS CAN BE FOUND IN TELEPHONE DIRECTORY AND AS WELL IN PUBLIC DISPLAY |

I will say you shouldn't kill your feelings because off these as if you see some accident on road will you stop going outside ??? No.. This things can happen with anyone even in your country. But if you want to be safe then there few thing which you need to know... like always book your tours with tour operators as if you do so they will take care of yourself and you have driver with you during your travel (sightseeing ). If you book everything at your own then you have to care yourself. There are many tour operator take their services and enjoy your India Tour you can check www.holidayclubindia.net may be it will help you. |

That girl was abandoned for six weeks and went around unsupervised with an adult man. Her situation and yours are not comparable. |
