Is the car ride to Mysore from bangalore pretty safe? MY husband and children are not used to the roads in india since it's their first time. what do you think about going to Mysore and where is the best place to stay at a decent but not too expensive hotel with flush toilets of course! Additional Details Also, do they charge taxes if they know you have r an american? i am indian married to a american man. i am also a indian with a amerian pass port.
The road is good with good aomount of traffic. However for extra safety and precaution travel in day time only.

indian highways are only as safe as your experienced driver is. we've found that a reputable travel agency (preferrably one from a 4-5 star hotel) usually can help you arrange a good car and driver..but please let ur driver know that you do not want ANY speeding or over-taking...also, do NOT travel at night, however tempting it maybe in order to save time, as the truckers are pretty rash drivers.
as for good accomodation in mysore, quality inn southern star (4 star) worked well for us as it was well located n a decent standard
