welcome 2 india. u can communicate with indian people in hindi easily. in northern india mostly people understand hindi & english & in big cities too but in southern india u can find english language suitable b 'coz in this part people use other lang.eg. tamil, telgu etc. [hindi is also used there] in eastern india people understand both lang. if u want to go in villages of india than u have 2 use hindi.

English is the most accepted language.

Although Hindi is the most common languge in India but 40% of Indian Location does not allow to use Hindi.

English is accepted in 100% locations.

Most of Indians (except extreme villages) will understand English. However Hindi along with English would be best.

English is India's 2nd language. But it depends where you go. In north side Hindi is more spoken than English. In South people speak more English and south indian languages as they do not speak hindi at all. In big cities and tourist places people speak english but in villages and small cities people do not speak english but they can understand.

Some people in India they want to show off that they can speak english and they speak english even though they can speak hindi very well.

In short if you speak english you will not have any problem in India.

Zinnia, I am here under the name "chopper" because I left Yahoo Answers months ago, but they keep notifiying me every time at my "real" email address,(which I assure you is NOT Yahoo and, after this experience, never will be)every time you ask a question.Since I can't email you privately (your profile doesn't permit it - smart girl!) I am stuck with doing it this way.
I have nothing against you AT ALL, but PLEASE remove the contact name that starts with a 'p' and ends with an 'o'. It's a terminated account (unfortunately I terminated it without deleting my real email address, and now since it doesn't exist, I can't go in and fix it.) and in theory I should not be getting any more correspondence from YA, but that is expecting too much decency, or at least competence, of them. Yahoo Answers doesn't seem to care about the sanity of its former users. I'm hoping you do. So please take me off your list so that Yahoo leaves me alone.
