13k is good amount to spend, go by volvo bus to manali from delhi, dont believ the brokers, they say they will show the hotel for 200 but, they r cheaters, just get down near bus stand and inquire in the near by hotel and bargain for 250-400, take a taxi where ever u want to go, but see that, it is shared with another 2 couples, then it will be cheap,

There are plently of hotels in Manali. We have travelled a lot throughout India on our own and never never taken help of any travel agent. Why to pay undue commission ? There are volvo buses available from IBTS, New Delhi to Manali. Once you reach Manali, you can hire a vehicle for local sight seeing.

Sept. being off season you please ask hotels to give you discount.

I myself am living in New Delhi. I am not sure but I think you would better switch your Manali trip to next year maybe in May,June or July, because if you go till there you cannot come back without visiting the Rohtang Pass. This is one pass really worth seeing as I myself have just been there in the past May month and then itself then a huge chunks of ice and the roads were almost blocked due to many land-slides along the road. Here you can go for Paragliding, Rafting(The Best Of All), Zorbing, Skiing, Trekking, etc. According to what I had heard this particular pass is closed almost the entire year except those three months. You would better get on hook of some travel agent if you go in those times(May) because that is when the whole area is filled with tourists a lot. Everything better be booked if you are going in those (May)days.

CHeck on the rates applicable at this time, good to take advice from a local travel agent and take a fixed package from them , atleast you have someone to blast of in case of anything goes wrong

well u have choosen a nice place, it depend basically from where u are goin to manali and and how much u know abt himachal, i'll always go for self arrangements coz it gives maximum pleasure with maximum freedom.... lots fo hotel, lots fo guest houses and good people, dont worry abt anythin and go on ur own.....
