If you're in the UK and you come from India/Pak/Nepal/Bangla... you're Asian
If you're in most of the rest of the world, Browns=Indians, and being from East Asia, e.g. Japan/China/Hong Kong, etc. classifies you as an Asian |

In the US, an Asian refers to Chinese or atleast people with oriental features. An Indian would be considered a South Asian, in the same breath with Pakistanis and Sri Lankans, and Bangladeshis. |

Indian are usually refered as sub continent or just Indians...
some ignorants also refer to Indians as Middle eastern. because of same color complexion and ancient history. |
