If an American business man went to India, would I be part of the Caste System? |
What I mean is, would a foreigner with higher education be part of an upper caste or in the middle, or not even thought of anything but foreigner? |

You wouldn't be considered at all, except as a possibility of one of the lower caste to marry out of their present circumstances. The upper castes consider themselves ROYALTY. They would no more have anything to do with you, then they would couple with a dog. It is considered very dirty for them to even have a passing fling with someone who is not their equal.
They can treat you as someone they have to deal with for business reasons--that is, a knowledgeable foreigner--but don't try to push yourself on them in any sort of social setting. |

No. A non-Hindu is never a part of the caste system. Only Hindus are divided into 4 categories according to Varnashrama. This division too is supposed to be based on qualities alone, not on birth. Today this system has degraded and caste has come to be decided by birth alone.
Regarding the American businessman, he is by his qualities, a vaishya (caste of business/ farming people).
But if he does not follow the Vedic religion, he cannot be a part of the Vedic varnashram system. |

First in most cities in India (not villages) no one bothers about ones caste.
If you do meet up anyone who does believe in the caste system - you will be a out-caste as you wouldn't belong to their caste - doesn't matter higher or lower.
Lastly why do you think being an American will get you any privileges for being in the middle or higher caste as regards higher education - I am sure India produces more PhDs and super specialists in any Field than most of Europe and America put together. |

If a Foreigner visits America what would he be a foreigner. That's all you will be even in India.
Caste system started of like for example a person who as attained Brahman (knowledge) becomes a Brahman -not by birth. It was a kind of title that was misused.....by haves on the havenots like any other society, but in this case it went out of control because the situation was exploited by the high class and by the invaders including the religious invasions like Islam and Christianity. |

You will be an American business man in India and not a part of caste system. Contrary to what some believe the daily life in India, especially the cities and bigger towns has no big place for caste. What matters more is how friendly, honest, efficient and human you are. There are thousands of Americans and westerners in India for work, business, yoga learning and tourism. They are treated well with courtesy and etiquette if they are also warm and friendly. Have a nice stay in India and happy times. |

ull be an outcaste but they do respect americans and suck up to them, like if a high caste girl (if she was from a city) wanted to marry u they wouldn't care as much as they would if she wanted to marry a lower caste indian; it also really depends on the person/ family nowdays people care less about that just like in america peole car less about race than they used to |
