so If you just going for one day , spend whole day in Kovalam beach

if you are a nature lover go to MUNNAR, if you are a city freak..go to COCHIN, and if you like crowded bikini beach visit KOVALAM.

kerala is beautiful for its back waters and greenery, you wont see these in the 2 cities u mentioned. visit munnar.. hill station, or aleppy for boating n backwater tourism.

I haved lived in both cities. I suggest Cochin coz there is lot more to c in Cochin than in TVM

Cochin is a better opt i think because i hve been to Cochin as well as Trivandrum.Out of my experience on a one day travel i would choose cochin because last week we had a one day trip to Veegaland which is near Cochin.I swear i had a lovely experience.What a place to visit in Kerala!

Trivandrum has Kovalam beach [too commercial], Vizhinjam and Varkala near by, also the Padmanabhaswamy temple in the city is worth a visit for its architectural splendour as is the Padmanabhapuram wooden palace on the road to Nagercoil. One can also visit Neyyar wildlife sanctuary and dam close by or Ponmudi hill station, or Veli water sports lagoon. Trivandrum even though the capital, has a small town atmosphere and is perhaps all the better for it.

Cochin has the Fort Cochin historic area, harbour boat ride with dolphins, Chinese fishing nets etc and backwater trips. It's mush more commercial than Trivandrum. You can also go to Parambikulam WLS, Kumarakom, Munnar and Thekkady from Cochin but certainly not on a one day trip.

From a strictly one day sightseeing point of view, Cochin would probably be a better bet.

Since both are polluted I think not to opt any.
But a day trip can be prefered to see historic places and capital, i think Tvm is good, if we want to see the development in all sector then Cochin is better.
