In India Is It Common For Men To Wear Tilaks?

I am resident in the UK....Here I have seen many men from India who go to work wearing the Tilaks on their forehead. However, whenever I see Indian images in the news, I never see men walking around wearing Tilaks. I was just curious if it is common or not for men to wear Tilaks in India.

Thanks

Some people, after praying, put tilak. It is a religious belief, not part of cosmetics.

Tilak ceremony is an important Indian ceremony. It is regarded as one of the most important pre-wedding ceremonies.Generally the male members of the groom's family like brother, cousin, or uncle put Tilak on the groom's forehead by using Kumkum (the paste of red vermillion).

Many gods and goddesses appear to be wearing this mark on their forehead so its a part of religion and is practised usually on various festival and other ceremonies like rakhi diwali lohri marriages funerals births many yagyas etc.

Most people who do follow the rituals do wear & do not wipe it off, but some prefer not to wear the whole day & wipe it off after the pooja rituals.

TILAK : Tilak is a ritual mark on the forehead. It can be put in many forms as a sign of blessing, greetings or suspiciousness.
The Tilak is usually made out of a red vermilion paste (kumkum) which is a mixture of turmeric alum, Iodine, Camphor, etc. It can also be of sandalwood paste (chandan) blended with musk.
The tilak is applied on the spot between the brows which considered the seat of latent wisdom and mental concentration, and is very important for worship. This is the spot on which yogis meditate to became one with Lord Brahma. It also indicates the point at which the spiritual eye opens. All thoughts and actions are said to be governed by this sport. Putting of the coloured mark symbolizes the quest for the 'opening' of the third eye.
All rites and ceremonies of the Hindu begins with a tilak opped with a few grains of rice placed on this spot with the index finger or the thumb. The same custom is followed while welcoming or bidding farewell to guests or relations.
