While the train services in India are government owned, bus services in different parts of India are private owned as well as government owned. In Mumbai bus services are owned by Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Private Bus owners are not allowed to run bus for public transportation in Mumbai.

Trains are state owned, but buses and planes are both.

tamil..from vellore
public transports...

Railways:

Railways transports are fully under the control of central government and no connection to public or state governments.

Buses:

All city and metro town buses are under the control of the state governments. Many distance buses are also under the control of state government concerned.

Private buses are doing major roll in india. Majority moffussal buses are only private buses, besides omney buses, volvo buses. The concerned state governments are doing moffussal bus services to long distance buses. No private operators doing long distance buses, but many private omney buses running long distances.

Its all state owned. However, there are some privately owned separate bus services which are more for the middle class people. In terms of taxis, they are owned by the people, but i think they too have to pay a certain amount of tax to the government.

Sputink
all are owned by govement
but there are some prvivate busses that go to cities

Depends .. Most of them are owned by the Govt.,for example the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation,Mumbai Suburb rail,Kolkata Maetro etc are state owned. Most of the city bus services are also owned by some or other stare corporations. But,in some cities we have private fleet of buses(e.g the blue line buses of Delhi).

Trains and trams are government owned and operated
Buses in the metro cities are government owned and operated
Buses in other cities, towns, and villages are government owned, as well as ownded & run privately owned transport companies..

Eg. in Chennai, TN, the buses are run by Metropolitan Transport Corporation, owned by the Government of Tamil Nadu
in Karur, TN, some buses are run by the State Transport Corporation, and some buses are run by individual companies

owned by state/ u.t govt..but the govt is privatising everything these days so it might anytime privatise them in future too but it earns them a lot of black money so maybe they wont do tht :)

In India Public Transport is owned and managed by the govt. Here public is the opposite of private. Please read republic in place of public to clear your confusion!
