I work with some girls from India, and they claim that in India, there's no smoking, drinking, drugs or prostitution. Is this true, or are they lying, or just naive? Additional Details What's the US got to do with it? We live in Australia.
May I recommend the movie "Water", Which shows most of the above.
There are all of those things in India.
They also may mean "not as much as in the part of the US she is living in" in which case depending on where they live then they may be correct.

It is not at all a correct statement. While there are prohibition of drugs and drinking in some areas, and smoking in public places, there are smoking, drinking, use of drugs and prostitution in India.

Not true. It is just like any other society. In fact the Indian cigerettes and alchohlic drinks are stronger... There is prostitution pretty much everywhere. Mumbai has one of the largest red light areas. Like I said, it is just like any other society...

ha! they are lying! in india you can see people smoke everywhere, drink everywhere and some kids in ghettos have to be sold as prostitutes to help their family.
that's not true at all. they smoke cheap cigarettes called bidis all the time, and there's lots of marijuana and hashish. there's also plenty of alcohol and plenty of prostitution. mumbai has a famous red light district.
