Please explain ........... |

Yes yes....it is just like burnt Nan - ;-)
On serious note, does it really matter. When we have greater worries, color of the skin should not waste a moment of our time. Anyway, what would manufcturers of fairness cream and other cosmetic products do.
Another paradox, while we try to apply creams and blow so much money to look fairer, westerner use tan lotion and spend hours on the beaches under the sun to appear darker themselves :-) And a great advantage with the way we are is, a great loveable man in M&B or other romantic movies is one who is Tall DARK and handsome ;-)
As someone said, as long as we are fair within, how does anything else matter. I prefer Nelson Mandela to George Bush anyday. |

You are wrong there. India is not the only Asian country whose people are dark. Except the Mongolian race inhabiting Central to South East Asia whose skin tone is yellow, the rest of the Asians are all dark or brown skinned. This is the racial uniqueness of Asians in general. Countries like India which lie on the Tropics and are also close to the Equator obviously receive more light and heat from the sun, thus giving the people a dark skin shade. |

This question reminds me of the story told by one of the great freedom Fighter. The story goes like this.
When the god started creating the human beings he created the idols and kept it inside oven to dry it. But when he opened it he observed that it is over fried and black. He put these in Africa. then for the second time he started the same thing but this time fearing that the idols will over fry he removed it early. But it was under fried. Too white. So he put this in Western countries. By this time he was quite skilled in doing this job. He prepared the human beings with right color and he put them in india. That's why Indian's look beautiful. |

It is a technical question and those responded have answeres it like a racial question. I do not see anything wrong in the question and I am an Indian too. This question has opened the colour comlexes of Indian mind. Regarding the question I think South India must have been a part of Africa, then the continents drifted. With today's technology we should study the the similarities in their genes. Just because there is lot of sunlight one does not become black. If that was true the Arabs would have been the darkest people. How will you answer the facial features of Chinese and Mangolians. Geographical location plays a certain role but not that much that after a few generations the colour of the race will be changed. |

Modest is wrong.
The entire Asia pacific is fair-skinned, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand.
Myanmar, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh (basically the whole South India), Malaysia (except the Chinese people there) are all dark skinned people.
They are dark probably because they are closer to ****** genes then the Asia pacific.

because of the hot sun in your country. not the burning, just for protection, this is why your skin is brown it is a stronger pigmentation than white skin, which is more prone to cancer, when exposed to the sun. gods way of , he is merciful. you had the good luck to live in India, he gave you brown skin to protect you from the sun, i live in UK. but my god. on a Sunny day,. which are seldom. boy do i burn. i have even blistered. got heat stroke. thank god for your dark skin, god is protecting you. |

I sincerely wish that this question does not have a racist undertone.
The natives of south-ASIA called DRAVIDIAN's had a darker complexion. People who inherited their genes till date have a dark complexion. |

Thanks for being respectful -.-
In India, many hundreds of years ago, before the mughals arrived, the people who inhabited India where called Dravidians. Dravidians are these 'dark skinned' people that you are talking about. When the Mughals arrived in India, they interbred with the Dravidians. Therefore today you see people with light brown/medium brown skin color (interbred Dravidians) and people with dark skin (pure dravidians). Hope this answered your question |
