Very much so. It is the gateway to the Ajanta and Ellora caves, and the Lonar meteoric crater. The Tapovan Express train from Mumbai to Aurangabad takes about 6hrs and the flight takes about an hour. By road it ought to be around 8 hrs via Nashik. There are quite a few things to see in Aurangabad itself like the Bibi ka Maqbara which is a replica of the Taj Mahal of Agra, the famous Daulatabad fort which is magical and fascinating. The famous Paithani weave silk sarees are available in Aurangabad.
