Is India a country in poverty?

I'm asking because it seems quite dirty there from what I've seen on tv.

Who says India is one of the most devloped country now.

India is like any other country , and has many faces. The poorest parts are under developed, whilst the more affulent areas are just like the overdeveloped west.
In any country ie:- the UK some areas are in need of tender loving care, whilst others are awash with money.

deadloud
Ever heard of being 'filthy rich?'

being dirty doesn't neccessarliy equate to poverty you know

but when you think of india you do think of a 3rd world country and poverty

I don't think so.India have more than one billion of population therefore it's normal a significant percentage of poor
By the way indian economy is going to change and if in the past was mostly a rural economy which is still active now, with the new economy many part of the indian society are off guard

Debbie
well i'v been there many times and when i was younger i used to think so becuase i would always see people on the street begging for money but there are many rich parts to india

India like the USA cares little for its poor. India is now a middle ranking country in terms of overall wealth.

Not all of it. There are large areas where the people live in sheer luxury.
