If you like cold climate,fog you can go ahead.
second half of Jan will be less cold.

Yes, It is a good time.
All these places fall into the extreme climate category.
I think its better to visit these places in winter(Nov-Feb) time than in summers (Mar-June)which is very un-comfortable for travelling and sightseeing.
You know, you can manage in cold when its foggy only in the morning time..... but still you can roam around/see places in day time.
Pack warm clothes and enjoy the trip.

it's ok. as it is too hot in india for most western tourists i consider january a good travel time. although i have to admit that i was in delhi in january 2004 and it was freezing cold ( 5 deg celcius).

the problem is that some guesthouses have ac but rearly you find cheap rooms with a good heating system (sometimes ac's blow warm air). so sometimes i did what i wouldnt want anywhere: a room without a window so there is less cold air coming in (through not closing well windows).

dont worry you can always buy cheap extra clothing in the market. just dont forget to bargain and enjoy.

Climate will be chilly in Delhi and Agra. If it suits you, it is fine.

January month is good for visiting places in South India like Kerela , Tamilnadu etc . Delhi,Agra , Jaipur or other cities in North/North East experience Very Cold conditions during this time . While Day Time can be ok - 15 to 22 Degress Celsius , Nights are very cold with sometimes temp going down to 2-3 degrees. Last winter was an exceptional case when Delhi experienced 0.2 degrees low temp . One place even had -1 degrees low. Also there is a lot of Smokey Fog ( Smog) that
is not good for people with respiratory problem . think Feb and early March is a better time to visit North India as Weather is more pleasant then .

India is a place to visit at any pt. of time. But as you have specified that you want to visit , you should have some idea that in Delhi , it is extremely cold & every year some person die out of cold . The same goes for Jaipur ( but without the death panic) , though it is in Rajasthan. Agra has the moderate climate and you will love it over there.

I'm also flying to India in a week. But going to Hyderabad!
I've never been there before but everyone is saying this is the best time! They have that "flying kite" holiday... bakri ki eid... and more! have fun!!!

yes January is a good time to visit India. It is also a good time to visit Delhi, Agra and Jaipur because during this month it is nice and cool. At this time when you visit these places the temperature is very good.

India is a big country, It is beautiful
if you want to come down during this month., then make sure you visit goa, the new year celebrations there are grand. And try visiting Ladakh as well, it is an amazing place. I'm telling you this from my own experience.
