If you are a lover of Bharata natyam & carnatic music, December is heaven in Chennai. Climatewise December & January are excellent.

As to place of stay, Hotel Woodlands in Radhakrishnan salai in Mylapore is decent at about Rs 700 to 800 a night.

you can have good hotels near chennai railway staion in walltax road or in poonamalli high road both are the nearest road to chennai central station. one is opp and another one is next to chennai railway station.

so u can expect more movies n culturals in the city.
