Yes it is ok as a tourist. Only if you are invited to someone's house, do consider wearing something else. Shorts are not a common garment for men in India, it is only for teenagers and younger kids. |

That should not be a concern at all.. You do see lots of men wearing shorts and travelling in Airport and railway station. but the issue is :
In some parts of South India the fever caused by mosquito bite is rampant. You may have to safegaurd from mosquite bite and for that shorts is not sufficient.
If you are travelling during winter season to Northen India, (Delhi and around) it is so cold that you would want to wear at least two pants !. So a short would not do..
During Summer, you may get sun burn - because it is quite hot in some parts of India.
So it all depends on which part you are visiting and in which period.

the temperature in india will vary from 10 degree to 25 degree in these months...

Shorts are men's great friends in any part of world except Antartica, & Iceland..
u didn't say which part of india u r going... wearing SHorts is a common thing if u r concerned about culturally....

Oh yes....it is absolutely fine. Try carrying some long pants as well incase u r travelling in cold areas like kashmir. Otherwise wearing shorts is absolulety fine. If u plan to hitch hike then, shorts is a better option than long pants or jeans....wear light coton clothes too |

OK... My aunt went there in the winter with her church.... she said they wear saying they wear cold..and it was like 80-90 degrees they had coats and pants and sweaters and all kinds of stuff like that so My advice would NOT to wear shorts, specially since you want to kinda blend in to the surrounding so you don't stick out like a sore thumb....Good luck on your trip and adventure... |
