there is no safe place on this planet. the concept is relative. avoid unsafe places which are well known in all countries of the world. take travel advisory from credible sources. india is as safe as any other country in the world. follow the time tested principals, avoid abandoned buildings, dark alleys, travel in groups, avoid strange gatherings, keep your co travellers informed of your whereabouts, use credit cards instead of carrying excess cash, stay away from areas of political rallies, strikes, do research before move out by reading travel books, and so on......
a large no of europeans and people from other countries have settled in india and made it home... obviously it must be safe and enchanting.
The incredible india awaits discovery by you ... bon voyage |

• Don’t be so showy

No place is 100% safe, but in my experience in India I'd definitely say YES. It's as safe as London, probably safer. (Recall, though, that that's not saying it's entirely safe: there have been numerous terrorist plots in England recently, and a few of them like the Underground bombing have actually been successful, which is scary!) Basically, I'd say, India is as safe as most developed countries (though not as well-developed, obviously, and not as nice in some ways as a consequence, and more interesting in other ways). If you would travel anywhere other than Canada, then you could travel to India, too, and be just as safe! |
