Yes, its true. In rural areas, the concept of toilet paper is not there at all. They use water and their 'left' hand, and later they rinse themselves with water and soap. In fact, it surprises them that there are people who uses paper for the 'business' and not water!! If you talk about affordability, none of the families in the villages will be able to afford 'toilet paper'!
Things are changing in the cities.
Worried about shaking hands? In India, you dont shake hands, you fold you hands together and say 'namaste'. :-) |

People use water. And then use soap and water to clean the hands properly. Even people in those part of the world daily take a full bath after.... Not like North America where some people take bath in the night and then go to work in the morning even without washing their face or without bushing teeth. This answer is to the guy who says," do not let them touch you". The people in Northern America, I know who use toilet papers and never wash their hands after. So what about those? Do you still touch them? If you are not clean even in these developed countries then you are also not touchable. Do not tie all the people in the same rope. |

Yes. we do use Hands...
we can clean ourself much better using our own hands rather using recycled paper.. and then wash our hands with soap. It give much more cleaner feeling than using toilet paper.
In market you can easliy get toilet paper to clean your self if you visit India. And lol shaking hands with Indians is upto you but We think We clean it upto our satisfaction as we use hands not paper. :) |

Absolutely True! Left hand + water for cleaning and right hand for eating.
It is really impossible to ever really clean yourself with toiletpaper. |

you can buy toilet paper there but they don't normally use it...a lot of people use like a plastic cup to splash water to clean themselves and then use a towel to dry themselves off...now-a-days in india there are toilets that when ur ready to clean urself u can turn a nob and water comes from the back of the inside of the toilet and and helps the cleaning process without having to use a cup...i say its a hell of a lot cleaner than toilet paper... |

Yes it is true.
As we are much concerned about cleanliness , we use water and then wash our hands with soap rather than depending on papers and generating more waste. So try it out yourself. |

Yes, it's true.......
Water splashed on with a mug & cleaned by the left hand (which is important cos the right hand is used for eating)
According to culture, the navel(belly-bottom) is the dividing part of the body. For any body-part below the navel- the left hand is used for cleaning & such; & for the upper part of the body(above the navel)- the right hand is used.
Hell, you need the water to wash your **** because the food is so spicy. The toilet paper may catch fire.
However, many homes & all hotels have hand-shower sprays which makes it unnecessary to use your hand directly. |

we relate paper to saraswathi. goddess of education.. and hence we don't use it for cleaning purpose..
and moreover cleaning yourself with water gives you such satisfaction...
it is just like bathing. you cant clean urself body with just paper...
even your *** is a part of your body.. |

That is also what I have heard. I have heard that it is the left hand customarily. I along with you and possibly others would like confirmation as to the truth. |
