Almost it is nearby to Delhi. Frequent tourist buses are available, cars available...no one thinks that it is in the uttarpradesh, Agra. similar to the mysore brindavan from bangaluru. you first come to Delhi. There are lot of information and guiding centres and you can have full details and help.

Taj Mahal is on the west bank of River Yamuna in Agra,which is 204 km south of Delhi.

Bus service and train service are available from Delhi to Agra.

The Taj Mahal is in the town of Agra, which is about 100 miles from Delhi.

What we did was stay in a hotel in Delhi (don't remember the name, but it was in Connaught Place, D Block, and I would recommend it only if you are looking for the absolute cheapest you can find - there was bird poo all over the room because the windows are always open). Then we hired a car+driver (don't attempt to drive yourself!!!) to take us to Agra in the morning, wait for us, then take us back to Delhi in the evening. Any hotel can arrange this, and it was probably only about $20 US. Of course with the price of fuel being much more than it was back then (2001) it may cost more.

Sorry cant provide you with much details but would like to advice you on one thing-check out the days on which it remains closed before venturing for it as otherwise it may turn out to be futile.Moreover don't miss the sight on the way to Agra from Delhi,its just too good sarson ka kheth & all,I mean fields,roadside dhabha i.e. eatery,etc.......Why dont you check the web for other specific details,I'm sure it would be easily available.
