Does anyone know of anyone who has travel from London to India by car ? A couple of friends are planning to do so, any advice would be greatly appreciated :) (A mad idea...but what the hell....) |

That is my husband's dream but unfortunately he's had to abandon it for now due to the fact that the route would take you through more than one war ravaged country! There's a site on the web which tells you how to do the whole thing by train.
Sure it's a mad idea but you should go for it. You only live once right? |

how long would it take? dnt u have to get visa from all the countries u pass..which may include iraq n that wnt it? or you go round cos to go india from ere you may have to pass these countries like pakistn or affghanistan etc etc |

A very good idea...but ahem isn't there a water body called the 'Ocean' in between?????
Unless you and your couple of freinds plan to use a floatable car the size of a ship , I am not sure how can this car trip be conducted.
Unless you are mistaken where India is or if I am mistaken if you are talking about London, UK and India , Asia I do think this car trip is a mad idea! |

lawsonuser, if you are talking about the sea between UK and France, it doesn't really pose a problem. There is the Channel Tunnel now, so you can drive underneath the sea to reach France and hence mainland Europe. From there, it is theoretically possible to reach India by car without encountering another sea/ocean.
I have heard of some people having done this, but don't know about the route. In any case, you need a few good drivers in your group (at least 4 - have to be prepared for illness etc), who can drive long hours and in all sorts of different conditions. Even the driving rules would vary from country to country. Not to mention, you need a damn good vehicle in the first place that can run in all conditions - be it rain, sand, cold or heat.
