People see in us what you see in yourself, if she has a low image of herself that with would reflect in her personality. She must 1st change her perception of herself.

tell her 2 build up a bit of self-esteem. one shouldn't care about the things that people say behind one's back...as long as they dont throw it on ur face! Another thing is that perhaps she is in a kinda paranoid state...'coz probably she realizes her problm when she confronts slim figures. Indians dont look down on fat women...even a lot of Indian women have the problm. But anyways, she should do a bit in maintaining a healthy figure...u know, obesity isnot good for ur health.

Just rubbish. These are her own thoughts. We had many fat women in India too. Definately to be fat and obase is not good. But this is definately not a typical character of Indians to make fun of anybody.

If she is embarrassed, why doesn't she do something about her weight? She should get a diet from her Dr. and follow it. She should exercise, too, and her weight will come down. Talk is easy. A little hard work is what she needs to do.

I was just in India. There are some very pretty women there, but most women, especially in the cities, are overweight. A fat old woman in a sari that doesn't quite cover all is not a pretty sight. Well... not to me anyway.

i go out with a north indian man and i have learnt alot of their cultures and tradidtions.
many indian families still believe in arranged marriages and marrying within thier own casts or 'people', and many indian marriages are still based on practicality rather than on love... most single indian women do not object and hope that their family will marry them to a successful, handsome and kind husband and family, and when such a man is happily married to not one of their own, i suppose they would feel that they have been robbed and feel bitter about it...
there is absolutely nothing to back up wat i just said, only what i have concluded and what my man has explained to me through my own experiences...
