Near Chennai Tourist place.Pls help?

Entering the toll road, pay Rs45. It seems that the government "protects" the area. That toll road is the only road to get in & out of that place.

I went to the Dakshinachitra artist's village. Foreigner must pay Rs200. So-so, you'll enjoy it if you like seeing Tamil's traditional houses. The handicrafts are expensive. Make sure you bargain. My friends did not really like the place, so we're only there for less than 1 hour.

Crocodile park. Interesting, seeing so many kinds of crocodiles. Must pay Rs50, including for private pocket camera. You can held a baby snake inside. My friend paid about another Rs50 for that.

On the way to Mahabalipuram, we entered the Mamallapuram area. Have to pay Rs20 just for the portal to be opened.

Our driver excellently took us to Temple Bay resort to have lunch. Great. Extremely expensive, 5-star restaurant, but reliable food (of course!). I don't think he dared to take us eating on so-so restaurant. Afterwards, we went to the beach in the resort complex. Quite beach. You'll enjoy it.

Then off to Mahabalipuram temple site. Must pay Rs200 to see the temple. Sorry, we didn't find it interesting, so we didn't get in. Only 1 temple on each side? We went to the giant rock complex (not sure what to call it) instead. I'm amazed by that giant round rock... You must take picture here.

You can find lots of souvenirs stalls surround the place. Don't forget to bargain.

That's all the places I visited in Chennai outskirt. You can go as far as Pondicherry, though. I would love to, but my group was too tired already. If you have the resources (money and car), go explore everything. Have fun!

its better to go for MAHABALIPURAM.it s near by chennai.it take 2 and half hours journy from chennai.i went there, its pleasent atmosphere with beach.it is a heritage place.u have to start from chennain at 8 clock morning.

Yelagiri is a small hill station, about 4 hours drive from Chennai, near Jolarpet.

mahabalipuram is a great place , but there might be too many tourists . anyway if you go there , see if you can visit the artists' village . the ambience is said to be good . also try crocodile park .

or , go for TADA falls. it is somewhere in between chennai and tirupati (beyond gummidipoondi , on chennai-kolkata highway. ) , and takes around 3 hours to reach there .

but you may need some good transportation . take a friend's car or go in motorbikes . you may have to park a couple of kilometres before the site and walk from there .

also , take food and water . that tourist site is not quite developed yet .
and , in my opinion , that is the biggest advantage . the water is crystal clear . me and my friends didnt go upto the falls as we started out a bit late , but there are plenty of ponds on the way for you to relax . if you start out early (like 6 am ), you can even go up to the waterfall . however , i am not sure if there's much water in summer ( i went in march . and there were no regrets ) .
