If U really want to enjoy the scenic beauty of Nilgiris - Ooty, travel by train. Botanical Garden, Lakes & boat ride, Toy train ride are some of must see places in Ooty. If U are fond of wild life, travelling from/to Mysore, a stay or visit to Bandipur forest would be worth the visit. Have booking confirmed before ur visit to make the most of ur visit.

The Botanical Garden is one special place that you should visit.
There are lots of beautiful places on the way to mysore from Ooty like Masanagudi where you have some of the best resorts.The Forest near Masanagudi is where you can see a lot of wild animals and this was the place where Veerappan, the forest brigand used to live....its safe now.

take a trip in the heritage train from ootty to metupalayam
go for trekking at some point on the way to shootting medu.
There is a dam(dont know the name), the way to which is really beautiful.
