Offbeat honeymoon suggestions in India? |
Hi, I'm getting married in September this year. My fiance and I love travelling and we hate being a part of the "tourist" crowd. We want to have an offbeat honeymoon in India. Trouble is that September is not yet time to start travelling - because of the rains. So it looks like there are limited options - so can you help us out with any suggestions? Specific details are more than welcome! :-) Thanks! |

well, although the options are plenty, but you have not given any benchmarks. here are few of my picks(BTW- i love travelling ;without any prior arrangements, that's the fun of travelling; I have seen plenty of places). since you do mention that rain is issue, but in certain places it's fun! the place looks absolutely beautiful in rains. so i'm not going into details as i need to have lot more info, but i'll suggest places which are not very crowded esp in sept.
south: Munnar, Kodai, pondicherry, wayanad in kereala, orange county (many more places to choose from apart from orange county like mojo retreat) in madikkeri- coorg.
north - dalhousie-khajjiar (the latter would be great place to escape from crowd & have all the place to yourself as this is virtually a village in woods), nahaldehra & mashobra (near shimla), almora (try kalamatia sangam resort), binsar (wildlife sanctury), gushaini -raju's guest house, himalayan trout house in tirthan vally (further up from mandi). all time favorite manali.
there are many more place in east & west. but i have chosen the places which are more common & easily approachable.if you can give details ,I can give more information. |

on a honeymoon who cares if it rains all the time, the bedroom is the place to be , nice and dry. |

Why not try Kerala backwaters... or go to Sikkim (gangtok)... these are good places.
Hire a boat and spend a couple of days looking and feeling the beauty... |

Oh Yaar Either you are in London or Ludhiana there is no big difference just travel in heart of each other and go on terrace of your home and get wet in Rain and sing romantic songs. |

First of all you have to decide whether you want a honeymoon in the hills, on the plains or seaside. hot or cold weather?
a family was duped by a travel agent when they wanted to visit a virgin island on the andaman islands.
don't go in for unknown places. you can get into trouble. known places are safer.
The rains start in june and end in september.
lastly, a lot depends on your budget.
Personally, I liked Khandala. It is small, intriguing, peaceful with limited budget.
Then there is Pokhra in nepal. It is simply far from the madding crowd.
Consult your travel agent. He knows best. But the choice is yours. |

Hmm... interesting ....you will go for honeymoon... u love travel...but don't like Rain....don't like the "tourist" crowd too and you want "offbeat"
Going by your likes and dislikes.... the choice is really limited.
Buy one LARGE Umbrella (only one and not two....).....Rent an apartment in your neighboring locality......hire a cab too.... go out in the cab.. drive for 50 kilometers.and return.....end your journey at the apartment you rented.....tip the cab driver and tell him come back after 5 days......go inside (now you might need to use the umbrella you bought)... and lock the door for next couple of days... open only to allow the Pizza Hut boys to deliver food (assume you did pack your travel kit for the honeymoon with all necessary gadgets and accessories)... enjoy your hoenymoon
I think its "offbeat" and 100%"tourist" free, just made to order... |

If it is affordable you can go to a resort swasara at Gokarna, south of Goa around 5 hours. orange county at coorg is also a nice place. besides if you want to travel north you can go to a place called sangla it has camps by the side of baspa river in himachal a little far off it takes two days travelling from Delhi and kalpa also on the same route. Do google search for all these places for further details |
