Well, of course, you must go and see The Taj Mahal. That is the first thing anybody thinks about when India comes to mind. It's in the city of Agra, India.
Can I come too?? Lol.
Have fun!!!! |

It depends where in India you are going because its a very very big place so unless your there for a long time and your planning on travelling alot your not going to be able to see everything there is to see. However some popular places include Taj Mahal, the Golden temple, the Lotus temple, the Ganges and holy places around Banaras. But there are many statues and shrines and all sorts of places and shops to check out :-).... have fun |

Avoid Taj Mahal. Its exactly same as photo ! Cold unmoving and surrounded by hustlers grabbing your money. Total waste of time. Just a building. Try and see the real India. Avoid expensive hotels. Travel the trains and buses meet the people. That means everywhere is good. Try to plan therefore for climate. Go where you feel comfortable. India is not a place to see. Its a place to be. |

Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Amritsar are a popular tourist circuit in the northern part of the country. Delhi has it all, from tourist spots to great traditional marketplaces. Agra is, of course, the home of the Taj Mahal. Jaipur is known as the "Pink City." Amritsar is the home of the Golden Temple.
Travel from one city to the next is relatively inexpensive aboard India's trains, so going from one area to the next is not difficult. You can also take bus tours to various locations through each Indian state's government tourist locations. Here's the link to Delhi's website: http://delhitourism.nic.in/index.aspx
Most Indians treat tourists with respect; however, beware of beggars (don't give to them, give to reputable charities if you feel the need to do so) and those who try to charge unfair prices due to your country of origin (European, Australian, Canadian, or American---all are charged prices much higher than even rich Indians would pay for many services or products).
