I am of a white origin, and although I am white, I feel I am just as good of an Indian as most Indians, and that I have the same good values and respect for Mother Earth as most Indians, and then better than some.
There is lots to be proud of being Indian, though the way the government treated the Indians, I am ashamed of that, but it was a group of people that also killed their own - lots of white people were killed by their own government, for not going along with the government's evil ways, as is today also, there are many good white people, but it seems that power corrupts, and we are finding out that all people, no matter what race, when they get power and wealth, then people have the means to do bad things, some do good, some do bad but wealth and power magnifies the problems we all have no matter what race we come from. |

YES.
We Indians make it a really special place to live in.
There is so much diversity across the country you just cannot get enough of.
Although there certain sections of the society which still need to mature...it's a part and parcel of any society...and I am sure India is on the road to development.
YOU CAN LOVE INDIA OR HATE INDIA BUT CANNOT IGNORE IT :) |

I'm proud to be Indian, but people usually think I'm Arab, Italian, Greek, or just plain White when they meet me because I guess I don't fit the physical stereotype of an Indian. So when it comes to being treated poorly, that usually doesn't happen to me. But I am very much proud of who I am and embrace my culture everyday. |

India is at the end of the day MY country. Its like my mom. She may not be the most beautiful, the prettiest, the coolest or the smartest. But she is MY mom and I love her without questions. Similarly my country. Like they say in Sanskrit, "Janani Janmabhoomishcha Swargadapi Gariyasi" (Mother and Motherland are greater than Heaven)
As an Indian having travelled around the world, outstandingly Indian virtues are intelligence, family values, rich culture, acceptance, empathy and inborn happines/contentment/high self-esteem. What Indians could do better? Many things - not look for a short cut to success, respect privacy(sure!), treat everyone absolutely equally, stop in a crisis and help, not push children to excellence in everything..
But hey, even Americans of Indian origin need a generation or two to observe, absorb and change! Indians in homeland would change too... the seeds have already been sown and give it time to get entrenched! |

"Pls learn to respect others and their privacy... which i find a little lacking in many Indians.
" ---- Oh that is so funny! My partner is Indian and I love him more than anything but he doesn't seem to grasp the concept of personal space or privacy very much!
What I love about him is his integrity and the fact that he has respect for his parents and the planet and for other people and he is kind and honest and genuine. I'm sure he'd be like that whatever his nationality but his parents have raised him with traditional Hindu values. I consider myself to be blessed and honoured to share my life with him. |

of course i am proud to be an indian! is that even a question to ask. there is no word to describe how much i love being indian. u shoudl be proud if u are indian. India has been down a long rough road but it has gotten through. i am very proud. mujhe garv hai ki main ek hindustani hoon. it is true that some ndns can be like u described. there are many things that upset me about indians but well we have to live with it. infact i was so upset that i was thinking about it today too. i was thinking that if i was never indian i would never have problems of not being able to go anywhere, dad always asking u questions about everything, not being able to have a boy friend, and having an arrange marriage. but still, being indian is i think something very special. |

I AM INDIAN AND I AM PROUD TO AN INDIAN.
Its the fun you can do with your friendsin India. There is no way that you can that much fun in America or other countries. Its the dream place of a kid who wants to have fun. I have studied both in India and in America. I personally had lot of fun India than in America.
