The Taj Mahal is in India, but I think it looks like Muslim/Arabic design. Anyone agree?

You would think it would look more like a hindu palace. The people of India are predominately Hindu, right?

It is of Persian design, their civilization spread even to India at one point.

Much of the architecture throughout middle Asia is in that same style. It is not relegated to the Middle East.

Though the predominant religion is Hinduism in India...India was ruled before the British by a lot of regional kings .In the North it was ruled by the Mughal Kings who were Muslims. One such king was Shah Jahan who had built the Taj Mahal in memory of his Love Mumtaz Mahal...this is actually the grave of Mumtaz Mahal.Since it was bulit by a Muslim King it has a Mughal architecture as its base though it includes several other architectures.

Yes because the Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan who was the emperor of the Mughal Empire which was based on Islamic traditions. And this Taj Mahal was built in memory of Shah Jahan's wife so not only is it a monument but also a grave site for his wife, himself and his son.

ArgumentativeButNotInsulting
The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughals, a Muslim dynasty.

India is a secular country, so besides beautiful Hindu temples, she has beautiful churches and even a beautiful Bahai temple in Delhi.

Incidentally, the Bahai temple was designed to look like a lotus, the national flower of India, and often used in Hindu religious ceremonies.

It was constructed by 25008 people out of which 17896 were arabic muslims so it resembles a muslim arabic design.

The Taj Mahal (sometimes called "the Taj") is generally considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements of Persian, Indian and Islamic. The Taj Mahal has achieved special note because of the romance of its inspiration.

Barkley Hound
It is Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements of Persian, Indian and Islamic.

SteveT
Yes, but the Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor ShÄh JahÄn who was Moslem

Yea Yea
It consists of Hindu, Persian and earlier Mughal architecture.

yeah, but it was built by Shah Jahan, who was a Mughal ruler of India. I don't that means he was Hindu.
