We are looking to be in India in May and June. Where are the best places to find tigers?
I have heard a fair number of stories where reserves say they have tigers and none have been sighten in a long time.
Thanks for any answers.
Here's a link to info on India's Project Tiger that lists some of the reserves in India (I think they are mainly in the North, but I could be wrong). The two I've heard of are Corbett's (near Delhi) and Melghat (Maharasthra), but I've never gone to one. My boss had two kids so I know these were two places they went.
Here's a link to some organised tours and it may also have information on areas and best timing: http://www.indiantigers.com/

The months of May and June are going to be real hot in India except perhaps Leh and Ladakh. But I do not much know if there are any tigers there. I went to India with family only recently. You may write to Smile India Tour who arranged our tour very cheap.

Go to Kerala, it is the most stunning place I have ever been!
We visited a nature reserve called Lake Periyar and they have tigers there. Not many and they can be difficult to find but the rangers are more than willing to take you out treking to try and find them. We were only there for 3 hours so didnt see Tigers, we did see two elephant calfs playing in the water and I nearly peed myself with excitement.
Even without the abundance of wildlife I would definately say it is well worth a visit to this state. My work sent me last summer and I will definatel be going back to enjoy it at a more leisurely pace!
