Well, there's the Taj Mahal, it is closeby. there are also various ancient forts to visit. i know that there are many forts in Agra, which is pretty close to Delhi.
There's also a place called the lotus temple.... thats pretty neat, it is a building shaped as a lotus. Have fun in Delhi! |

October is a good time to go. Other than local attractions, you could take day trips as well.
for local attractions, there are the usual suspects, red fort, humayun's tomb, india gate, chandni chowk etc. try this site, video guides from local, it should give you some offbeat ideas as well

outside of delhi, agra is an obvious one for taj mahal
amritsar is also interesting for golden temple, few tourists go there but it's a great experience |

Day trip to Agra Taj Mahal, time permitting
Shopping: Dilli Haat, Sarojini Market, Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar and Janpath
Food: Yummy chhole bathure, Delhi chaats, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, assorted dhaba rotis, tibetan momo's at Yashwant place, Karims at Old Delhi, malpua at Malik sweet house at CP, bengali sweet market, Roshan di Hatti in Karol Bagh, etc.
I live in Mumbai but have visited Delhi several times in the last 30 years. The above selections are what I as a non - North Indian outsider enjoyed most about Delhi. |
