Regarding deals and packages for touring India, it is your choice, preference, budget, time, convenience etc. which matter the most. A few answerers at Yahoo!Ans are extremely against deals and packages while a good majority are in favour of them. You have to assess for yourself what suit you the best.

Once you decide on your travel - time, period of stay, locations, budget etc you can shortlist from many options as plenty of offers are always there, and the deal prices differ from time-to-time. Instead of consolidated packages, you should travel yourself between important stations and then pick up the local guided tours, this would work out to be much cheaper, flexible, convenience and enjoyable also.

Local travel agents/deals are always preferebale than national level travel agents/deals.
