We Indians are very tolerant, we respect your ways of life too, so you can be as you are most of the times. As Orange_Slice has suggested, respecting elders is a good start and please try to use less relealing dress. For most of the big cities you neednot prepare for anything special, traditions are more prominent only in villages these days.

That is a good question you have asked. Very few of us bother about traditions and customs of different cultures.
Here are some tips -
No kissing or hugging.
No smoking and drinking in public places.
Decent clothes.
No swimwear on beaches.
These are too be followed wherever the masses are present. At resorts, Star Hotels, private beaches all this is accepted.
Removing footware while visiting temples.
Removing footware while visiting South Indian homes.
Not refusing what is offered to you when you visit someone.
