The name probably derives from the name of Shah Jahan's wife: Mumtaz Mahal. It might be a corruption of Mumtaz ('taz, hence Taj) together with Mahal which means abode.
By the way, Mumtaz means the chosen one and Shah Jahan means King of the world.
Some believe that the monument was originally a Hindu temple, palace of Tejo Mahalaya (Shiva), which could also be an explanation of the name.
reigning queen
Taj Mahal literally "crown palace" or "crown of the palace" referring to Mumtaz Mahal, in whose honor it was built. Her husband, emporer Shah Jahan was so grieved by her death that his hair is said to have turned white overnight. He wanted to build a monument for her "as beautiful as she was beautiful."
The word Taj is not a corruption of the "taz" in Mumtaz nor is it referring to a hindu temple. The Mughals were Muslim and therefore Taj Mahal is also a Muslim achievement.

a monument, a memorial - the soul which was deprived of its partner- the end of its sweet heart - could not relish the inevitability of the fate- wandering restlessly found solace in raising a suitable and beautiful structure to exhibit his total dedication to his lady love. not only a wonder of the world but also the dedication and sincere feeling for the departed soul
