I would recommend the Kumarakom Lake Resort - you can check their website. The meandering pool villas are very nice. |

Hi as all ahve somewhat given you the same answers.. it no point discussing the same over here.... Kumarakom Lake resort is indeed very good.. but its price is real expensive and starts from 9000 onwards... in my opinion I will not suggest any of the hotels mentioned by others as I am a Leisure consultants and had done end number of packages to Kerala and had visited almost all the hotels and resorts in Kerala.. If you value money then KTDC waterscpaes can be your best bet, but still as it is Government owned you should feel that all works like government staffs and dont give the care you really look for.... Opposite to these 5 star hotels you will find some good cheap accommodation on the same road which leads to you to these 5 star hotels... these are all declassified hotels and you can contact them Directly to get the rates when u arrive... but the best bet is to go through a trusted tour operator becuase they can offer better price than the hotels as they have special rates from all these properties. and if you really feel that if you spend money then you should have a best deal... then go through this sugegstion as I have done enough packages from Chennai from where cleints just come down to spend maximum 4 days... Then opt for all inclusive package of ABAD WHISPERING PALMS (kumarakom) or KTDC Waterscapes for Kumarakom. Take one day tour of Houseboat ( all meals inclusive) Non AC starts from 3500 to 4500 for SGL or DBL room and AC starts from 4500 to 6000 for SGLor DBL. As what I have done packages for guys from TCS chennai so many times they come down to Kochi or travel till Alleppey and then drive directly to Houseboat or Hotel and spend 2 days in hotel and 1 day in Houseboat and then return back to chennai... I had been doing the same for this for 10 to 12000 per peckage all inclusive... if you are looking for deal then do contact me and will provide you with best alternatives... regards |

you have got many details from the many freinds.. i suggest sopmething different.. Kumarakom is famous for its bird santuary ..but unfortuantely only a few bit of the entire sanctuary is open to the public.. kumarakom otherwise got famous for the five star category hotels located there. and they are really posh.. good value for the money though.. the back waters and the canals are beautiful in Aleppey area.. the lakes in kumarokam are very wide and can be boring after two hours if you dont get in to smaller canals.
i suggest you spent your time in House Boats..i that way you can also (if you wish) go to kumarakom,, and stay in house boat and enjoy the beautiful back water areas.. Choose aleppey area for back waters.. the hotels other freinds mentioned are really good as well. |

Kerala Tourism Dev Corporation have holiday packages which includes boat houses. This is cheaper and convenient. Please visit their website and you will find more information. Recently one of my friend utilised this package and found it economical. |

Kerala Tourism's Waterscapes is a good property. Also Kumarakom Lake resorts. Of course, nothing to beat Coconut Lagoon including the prices :-) |

I guess people have suggested what I was also going to suggest : Kumarakom Lake resort / Taj for high end, KSTDC Waterscapes for great value for money, Coconul lagoon is midway.
But really , dont waste your entire time in Kumarakom. If I were to go there again (I have been there once) I would go land in kumarkom on a evening, spend the night at one of the resorts, after lunch next day board a boat house, set out into the backwaters, spend the night on water, get up in the morning in Alapuzha which is on the other side of the lake spend a the day in one of the resorts there and then board the train back home. You can increase the number of days in each place if you want to. But do not miss the boat house option. Most resort operators give this as a package and KSTDC is the best bet. Have fun |

The best is the Taj resort near to the beach which has the beautiful villas with private pools. It is the best place for relaxation even though it is costly. |

Kumarakom Lake Resort is the best there, but really expensive. see if you can find a good package deal there....they do tend to have those 2-3 day packages, I hear. Besides that, there are a lot many other resorts. get onto the net and google Kumarakom....have a nice trip. |
