I appreciate yr feelings towards down-trodden poor mankind in india. I suggest u to adopt some rural schools or arrange some scholarship fr economically backward students. Iam member of Rotaryclub in india &they are doing such charities regularly. In case you want the suggestion fr deploying funds will be sent to you through our Rotary President.
may God bless you

You are right.Charity given to NGO'S and even to many religious institutions might just not all reach to those you have given them for. NGO'S have become a way of earning money in India for unscruplous people.
Either you find out a religious institution that does a lot of humanitarian work and you can be sure that your money will be used well by them.( Avoid the very big and famous institutions in this case) Some religious institutions do a lot of humanitarian work like providing health services to the poor, helping them to settle ways for livelihood and so on withou any publicity at alll
OR you have to make individual efforts as the above person suggests. Try to find out more about CRY ;they undertake literacy campaigns under which you can finance a particular child's education for a particular period. They provide you details to assure that your money is being utilised in best manner. Also try to find out more about the Lion's club.I have seen it organizing a lot of health camps etc .
but as for rural areas I doubt if you will be able to find out a satisfactory way for charity without much difficulty

If you like I will find out more about a few not sooo big but dependable institutions for you in my vicinity

Many NGO's do very good work in distribution of funds collected. You should join them. HelpAge is one of the Best.
Still if you feel unconvinced than the best option is to undertake charity through your own efforts.
Sponsor a child from a very needy family background and give education fees either directly to the school or college so that the funds are not misused.
Give financial assistance that too directly to an hospital or a medical unit for a deserving needy patient who is not in a position to afford heavy medical costs.
Register yourself with NGO's requesting them to refer needy cases for your scrutiny and than your deserving assistance.
Such Charities are undertaken under 'annonymous' status also if you do not desire your name to be disclosed.
All these suggestions will give you perfect satisfaction that your funds have been utilised for the purpose meant for.
CARITAS is the name - 'Charity with love'
I value your decisions and appreciate the concern for usage of funds.

If I had 50 lacs for charity I would have purchased a big land & house little away from some busy city .
I would have opened a charitable homoeopathy & naturopathic clinic & given shelter to some orphans , old persons , & cows in the house. Organised a free feeding centre for hungry & weekly lectures on astrology or religion.
After 5 years of service to humanity , I would have sold the property in 100 lacs & done some self service like visiting religious places like haridwar, kashi, Gauhati, Dwarka, Rameshwaram , Kathmandu, or 12 jyotirlingas.

Hi,
Sir ... we meet here again to discuss your Charity work in India. If you can make a chance to visit Kolkata, a great city in India, I may be with you in your effort to help the poor here.

Here in this city, I may work with you to undertake your charity work and may find out right people for this job.

Best of luck and welcome to India.
My e-mail address is already with you.

firstly when u ask this ques a answer came into mind is for teaching the illiterate. Because i think that giving a bread to a person is better than giving a knowledge equvivalent to that bread, so that in life he again has not to stand against anybody for such bread.. All the possible ways u have already wrote. But the work is not completed by writing it. I think that a couples words are better than a single action.. May god give u enough strength to complete ur job....

Best of Luck...

charity begins at Home. Where there is a will, there is a way.
Good thoughts must be translated into deeds immediately.
Go to a hospital and help the needy or go to a school, find the best student, who is poor, pay for his fees, food, books and clothing. The list is endless. God has given you a great and wonderful thought. Let the world benifit from your help.

yes all ngo's are wealthy, live in palaces at the cost of poor.some use it for suppression of the poor and murder of sane. think of rural upliftment by paramedicos ,teachers, and scholarship to the average students.

I found something for you.

Never go thru any religious organization. They will spend only 20% on charity.
