Normally in southern part of India and mainly in Karnatka these terms uses.
Main means the main Road of a particular locality it may be more than 1 and the bye lanes of these main are known as cross. |

In Bangalore only some main roads are named. All the other roads are numbered with main and cross. 2nd cross 3rd main means the door number you are searching is on 2nd cross road near 3rd main road. Almost all the places are given addresses like this and it is very easy to locate, as one main road or cross road may run for some Kms. The Autos will take you easily. |
