Since you want to travel alone, you have to be very careful about your personal security. Try to take help of some professional travel companies in scheduling your itinerary, hotel bookings, guided tours etc.
Most of the Indians can not afford foreign travel and thus they can not understand European or Americans body language. They also have a myth that western women are free sex and sleep with anyone. Therefore, you have to be very careful in dealing with ordinary people on roads and public places.
Do not travel in local trains and buses while in India. Always book a private cab / taxi.
India is very beautiful and worth visiting. Indians are not so good especially will western women and you need to keep it in mind especially when you are in Delhi and Goa.

India is a soulful country and mother of all countries. Here there are many languages and many peoples lives with together and enjoy their life styles. Hindu, Muslims, Christians and many categories here allowed. But diversity here. Because India is a mother. Every one likes another people and dont interfere the other's customs.

Dear Sister,

Welcome to India.
There are lot of stuffs to see & enjoy in India from Kashmir to Kerala. So first of all you have to make a proper plan before coming to India. There are religious & cultural places, tourist spots etc to see. Starting from Delhi which is India'a capital you can visit Taj Mahal which is one of the Wonders of world, Qutab minar, red fort etc. then in Jaipur which is in Rajasthan you can find palaces. Then to Mumbai (Bombay) which is the Business capital of India, there is Gateway of India, Luxurious hotels, Marine drive etc. Kashmir for natural beauty. Kerala for backwaters, highranges, beach etc. Then best beaches you can find in Goa. Like that in most of the state there are tourist spots. Please go through the following official links to get a better understanding.

In India you will see different cultures and religions. You will see here Hindu and Muslim culture. People are so religious. There are lots of languages spoken here, but Hindi/Urdu is spoken most. Lots of people speak English also. Here you can see Buildings of Ancient time, Medieval time as well as Modern time. Taj Mahal is world famous building of medieval period, situated at AGRA. If you wish to enjoy GOA is best place. For natural beauty KERALA is best. If you like to see pilgrims HARIDWAR is best for that. DELHI is also great city with lots of place to go e.g. red fort, raj ghat, kutub minar and many more.
