What do Indian people think of Pakistani people?

Is it really all tense and awkward like it is made to seem to the Western world, or are the everyday Indians and Pakistanis generally okay with each other

Eh, big dispute...British empire...Gandhi...

well last time i checked, indians and pakistanis dont have giant representive brains that account for their respective countries. they have the ability to think for them selves. just like you will find asshole anti semetics or people that hate muslims in america, doesnt mean that all americans hate muslims. use your common sense.

Talking about myself (Indian) , I'm generally cool with Pakistanis. They aren't very different from Indians. But, as I am from that region, I can usually recognize who are Indians and who are Pakistanis (Losing that ability, tho).... But that doesn't really make a difference... I'm the same with either one..
Yeah, there are moments of friendly rivalry when it comes to Cricket etc.. but so are other regions when it comes to a sport they love..

So, to answer your question from my perspective, everyday Indians and Pakistanis are "okay" with each other.

But there may be people out there who don't share my views....but hopefully, they aren't in the majority..

Some Indians get along with Pakistanis while others don't. It is very hard to generalize. But it is not as awkward as it used to be like 10 yrs ago. Relations between the people of India and Pakistan are very good now though I can't say the same for relations between their governments.

There was a time when the most major topic in Indian politics and media was Pakistan, terrorism and Kashmir dispute. But now the focus has shifted to development and the improvement in Indo-Pak relations has helped increase goodwill b/w the two countries. Besides Indians and Pakistanis have more or less the same culture and language.

Personally, I don't care much about which country a person comes from. I have quite a few Pakistani friends though I am from India.

As a person of Indian descent I can tell you that Indian people of today's generation have no issue with Pakistani people. My parent's generation has issues with Pakistani people. But regardless of age, we all have issues with the Pakistani government. Government's hate each other, not people.

Indians who are educated or who have sensible head on their shoulders don't have any problem with Pakistanis. I would say the same for Pakistanis too. By every passing day this proportion is increasing..which is a good news for both the countries!

It is the jobless/hate full, narrow minded people that have nothing else to do who sit there and hate others!

purple_grapes7@verizon.net
not sure about it in India. I am Indian and I have some Pakistani friends. Politics doesn't really matter.

Every indian person is different so their views won't be exactly same. As for me, I like nice pakistani ppl..and hate mean pakistani ppl...Basically, depends on the person, not their background

hey wait.. pakistani people are no different than Indians.. are they?? Few years (61 years since 1947 partition) are not going to make people changed. They are same as of India.

Politics and the Government policies separate Pakistan & India. Pakistan was originally a part of India.
The languages, Punajabi, Urdu & Sindhi which are spoken in
Pakistan are spoken in India too.
You cannot differentiate a Pakistani from an Indian in
apperance.

People of both the countries want peace.
A peaceful living is possible provided both the countries
give up fighting with each other on Kashmir Issue

The freedom from Britain and greed of Mohammad Ali Jinnah to get power, lead to division of India. This led to creation of Pakistan on religious ground (Most of the Hindu's thrown from current Pakistan.. not the other way though to that extent as India is still a secular country). The partition saw a very bloody battle and riot solely based on religion. This is the biggest reason ppl of India and Pak hate each other.
Fundamentally they are not very different (culture, food, dress..) but there is hate!
