Love the culture...like how the women dress.
Good food. Nice people.
I wouldn't be too proud of eating Pizza Hut (blah) when Indian cuisine is soooo good.
I would like to spend time there.
Don't understand the constant conflict between Muslim and Hindu...Pakistan and India. That is a shame.
Namaste! |

Well, you know how Americans think everywhere else is the 3rd world! My own take on India is that it's a mix of old traditions and customs (some of which I just don't get, like worshipping cows) with one of the most highly educated workforces on the planet. My only prejudice (if you can call it that) is when my calls to Delta Airlines get routed there, and the person can do nothing to help me if the answer I need isn't on their "script". |

India is a great country!!!! I love it. I went on a holiday there for about 2 weeks and it just wasn't enough time. I "only" went to Mumbai, Delhi, day trip to Agra and to Goa. I have to go back and see more. India is booming, has a great rich culture and tradition, and is a wonderful country! |

Only silly people think there are, elephants and snake charmers lining the streets in India, people riding kangaroos to work in Australia and Heidi yoddelling at people in sweden. |

I know exactly what you mean, I come from Honduras.. and people think it's like in the movies.. they imagine a desert with a skinny dog (ok.. there are tons of skinny dogs).. but that everyone is on a mule, and that the buses are full of chickens..
Now let me tell you what I think of India... I've never been there ofcourse.. but I think you are a country which can be very developed, with a jet set high society, a very interesting culture.. I think you are a very intellectual culture, very reserved, and into keeping your traditions alive.. something I admire completely.. I have been able to see through your eyes India, because of the movies of Bollywood.. and I find it really interesting that you still wear your own traditional, yet modern style of clothing.. my husband and I would be really interested in visiting your country, and getting to know your culture in a few years.. any tips?? |

I only think of India as a place which has no respect for human rights.
Work on that.
No offense but I hate your country, to be more specific I don't hate the country I hate the people.
Your country is beautiful and so the food. |

I think it is a country of controversies. you got modern cities with everything western and more but on the other hand you have poor people who live in huts and starve.
you have highly educated people and children who never go to school. the thing that i have never quite understood is how come that with all the spirituality and religion people can be so mistreated by their own nation?
I think that the difference runs deeper than in the USA.
but that just my opinion |

I'm not an indian citizen although am an Indian from another country and love India Studied in India when I was very small. Was in Chennai in March. I was impressed with the people of Chennai who were very polite and helpful too. In fact am planning to visit India again. But I fail to understand one thing : why is safety & hygiene not on their priority list? I saw small children walking to school bare foot on the hot/muddy/ roads of chennai & other parts. That was very sad to see. And hygiene - if only the powers-that-be would look into providing ample public toilets for their people.......... |

I am basically from Chennai, India, though I have been away from Chennai for the past 6 years. I have been living in Australia and now in the US.
I would like to share my views about what Americans I know think of India basically from a Corporate working angle.
They think Indians are hard working and really great folks. I see everyday here in the US, Indians in very high positions and the Americans have a very good impression about Indians.
With regards to India, I feel they have the opinion that we have a great culture and a great past. They always ask me more questions about our country and want to know more. One thing that they never understand is the concept of Arranged Marriage :) |
