You can start from the north - delhi capital of India though you wont like the people there , next Rajasthan - must see - the desert the colourful dresses that can you see people wearing , mumbai - comes in one of worlds busiest city - there is beauty and culture shock that you will see but you cant expect a same condition all around the world . The food is no doubt incomparable , different places are known for its different food . Towards the south - you can visit Hyderabad ( let me warn you there is not much to see there but its one of the important places to be ) special food there Hydrabadi biryani , then you can visit the extreme south - Kerala - where its called the Venice of India - all boats cruising around large coconut trees and its known for its spices - and world famous ayur veda - which can cures many many health problems . Ofcrouse I did miss many other places - but the ones that I mention you wont regret visiting them .

WHO says the normal drinking water is not healthy but still people are drinking it and surviving on it , you can get almost anything that you want so there wont be problem - just be little more conscious and alert while getting taxi or dealing in crowded areas , specially in Delhi .

For language there isn't any problem as most people can understand and speak english . So Good luck

I do not prescribe you visit any Metropolitan because you may have visit much better town in develop country.but most indian town is dusty polluted and has a lot of gerbages.I prescribe to visit some stste
Himachal Pradesh,Uttranchal-those two state in heal area of Himalaya.there you find flower vally fruits garden heritage Rail way
and some famous Hindus Temple nearest International Airport is Delhi.

Rajashtan,Gujrat-There you find many Historic and well decorated palace,mount Abu Ronothomber and Gir forest Any
Puskar Lake, Indian Desert andMany famous Hindus Temple.
Those state are famous for there culture of floke Dance of NABARATRI occured in approxmetly in octabor month
keraala Tamilnadu-those are fabourit for sea beaches.Kanaya kumari in Tamilnadu is a place where you can see three SeaBay of Bengal Arabian Sea And Indian Oacan .
Wes Bengal,Behar and North East-there you will found Tea and fruit garden mazuli island Kamaksha temple Sundarbanand many Sanctuary of tiger crocodile.In winter season there is many fare and festival hare.

If you come in January then come to Kolkata where you will enjoy food festival of delicious food ,kolkata International book fare Makar sankarinti and many more.
this is the summery there is many more about culture and occasion in India.this is not possible to tell short.

I will not defend my country in this, I know its true, but the another truth is it a country of poor and we are proud of this. It is a country that gives shelter to 50% of population who lives below poverty line. We are not ashamed of this. We are proud to live a country of god where poor and the richest in the world lives together.

Today India is rising. We have been ruled and tortured for some 200 years by Britishers, Mughals etc. Its only since last 60 odd years that we we are independent. See our growth in these 60 years. We are growing faster than any other country every did in the past history. In only 60 years are being called as future nations of the world.

Bojan has pissed me off but people like these gives us the drive to grow BIG. Bigger than any Bojan and sorts. one day these same people will be at our door steps asking for help and we INDIANS will still trat them as honored guests. We do not talk bad. We are INDIANS

Please do not come to India if you are not prepared to face the reality of our life. India is real not synthetic like...

India can give you an experience of your life time. Some good some bad but at the end of the day you will be enriched.

Only one advice, come to India with your travel plan in place.

You should definately visit chandigarh. Its a great city. I went there 8 years ago. Very clean. But in general india has cows that walk around the street and its kind of dirty but not "that" dirty. The way the media in USA shows india with only poor hungry people is really out of proportion I am from USA and I didn't think it was that bad. I could live there

India is full of cultures...and its impossible to describe them all..
India has 6 religions and hundred of languages...

but Guests are treated as gods in India...

you should visit Kerala ,tamilnadu in South India...
Assam ,Sikkim in east ...
Jaipur (Rajastan) and Gujrat in west...

Kashmir and Himachal in North...

and our proud Taj in heart of INDIA...

Goa , Delhi , Chandigarh , Hydrabaad .Mysoor are beautiful cities to visit....having historical monuments too...

visit New Delhi... there are many many beautiful / historical places and monuments in Delhi and nearby like agra, jaipur and many places in Rajasthan.

It is dusty, dirty, smelly, polluted and very crowded. Cows and dogs roam the streets freely, so where do you thing they do their business? You can not really prepare yourself for that kind of thing, so just expect it. I know some people are going to get on my case but even they know it is simply true. Answers should not be biased.

If you are going you should visit Agra and possibly Jodhpur.
