??

Q for Question
tumhare kaam ki or tumhari koi value nahi hai .... tumhare pariwar walo or dosto ke liye .............. "Humari kadr unse poonchho jihne hum hasil nahi"

Madhukar Daftary
I had been the best tutor of math and physics in my town. Some students failing to get admission to my class used to have tears in their eyes. But my close relatives children avoid me when I try to teach them the subjects at no cost. Murgi (Chicken) is considered better compared to Daal (pulse). Ghar ki mean (Of home). The meaning of the proverb is that "the expertise of the person close to you is never realised and a closely related expert in some field is like an ordinary person and is not valued".

You don't value people who are close to you.

It's a saying usually attributed to husbands/guys who ogle at ordinary women (chicks) even though they have a beautiful wife/girl friend (chicken) at home. But then the chicken at home now tastes like daal (lentin grams) or rather ordinary.

The saying "ghar ki murgi" (the wife at home) "daal barabar" (is equivalent to lentin grams) therefore means that the wife's beauty is not valued no more.

All the other answers are also valid, which means that one is not valued at his own place, but the saying ideally maps to the wife/gf as explained above.

It means however high efforts and quality are provided in the routine they are treated with indifference and thanklessly taken as granted.

It is seen to universally apply
1. All feasts cooked at home vis-a-vis at the restuarant.
2. All domestic products available in the country vis-a-vis imported stuff.
3. Even to the glamour of the beautiful housewife vis-a-vis the other woman.
4. These days ditto to the Husbands...xceptin hee you say ghar ka murga..

Etc. Etc.
